Constipation is when a person has a troubled bowel movement. It is not a disease by itself. One is constipated only if there is no bowel movement for at least 3 days a week. Most importantly, sufficient time should be given for bowel movements. The person should take care as to not delay the process as they can lead to terrible pain. The more the time the person takes to empty the bowel, the more water content is absorbed and the more painful it becomes during the movement.

If constipation arises out of medical treatment, the same doctor should be consulted and a remedy should be asked for. Natural substances like basil, dandelion, milk thistle, honey, raspberry (red), triphala etc are also used to cure constipation. The stomach pain can be reduced by drinking a teaspoon full of ginger juice.

Constipation is a condition that has got nothing to worry about. If the body is taken care well, if the food habits are good, there should be no question of this arising.
